services

Some of the services I provide in therapy:

Bereavement
In my practice I understand that feelings of grief and loss are not confined to the death of a loved one. Similar feelings can be experienced, in response to any type of loss such as, relationship break up, unemployment, emigration, illness, disability and more.

Depression including post natal
I  aim to help the person suffering from depression to accept and manage their feelings. The aim of this approach is to address the unconscious and frightening downward spiral that results from focusing on past experience and using it to predict future negative outcomes.

Life Coaching
Is a way of helping a person to look at every aspect of their life, with the aim of becoming more aware of the imbalances that are causing their feelings of stress and anxiety.

Anger Management
Is not about eliminating a normal human feeling, but about understanding that the ways in which we express our anger (our behaviour) is not always acceptable and can exacerbate the underlying issue/s.

Addictive Behavior
I offer help for all types of addiction including, alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex and others.

Compulsive Disorders
Help is offered to anyone suffering from OCD, and other phobic behavior, using an integrative approach including elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

Self Harming
I begin with an understanding that self harming can sometimes feel like the only available response to overwhelming and intolerable feelings

Eating Disorders
This is an emerging and contemporary issue requiring particular expertise. I have the training and experience required to work specifically in this area.

Relationship Counselling
I work with relationship issues in my practice.

Anxiety and Stress
Stress is a natural part of human functioning, designed to help us assess and respond to perceived threats from the environment.  It is normal to feel overwhelmed by our struggle to differentiate between perception and reality. In my practice I aim to help people in this situation to reality test their assumptions and understand their core beliefs through integration of CBT and humanistic relational therapy.

Suicide Ideation and Prevention
A natural response to anyone expressing suicidal thoughts is to try to distract and mimimise because it is so frightening.  I offer to meet the person (without fear), and help them to fully experience their current reality.

Suicide Bereavement
Suicide bereavement is a particular type of loss often compounded by feelings of anger, guilt, rejection, and sometimes even relief.  In this situation I offer a confidential,  non judgmental space in which feelings that cannot be expressed to family and friends can be heard, understood and accepted as part of the normal process of grieving.

Sexual, Physical, Emotional Abuse
The journey back to wholeness for any adult survivor of childhood abuse is a painful one.  In my practice I understand that a supportive, understanding, relationship is fundamental to restoring that which was taken away from a vulnerable dependent child through no fault of their own.

Reiki

What is Reiki?

The word Reiki means universal life energy. It consists of two parts: Rei – Ki, Rei means universal and Ki or Chi in Oriental medicine is the vital energy which flows through all beings.

Benefits.

Reiki can be either a hands on or hands off therapy. It is a natural healing technique which brings about balance to the mind, body, spirit and emotion thus enabling our own system to work to its full potential. Reiki can be used in life situations and also works on plants and animals. It relieves pain and discomfort, fosters self – healing, balances energy in the body thereby reducing stress and promotes personal awareness. Reiki supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself, loosens up blocked energy and promotes a state of total relaxation. It is an extremely pleasant holistic method of healing.

“If you want to heal the body

You must first heal the mind”

Reflexology

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a holistic therapy that treats the feet and hands by means of pressure and stimulation in order to keep the body in a state of homeostasis, i.e. balance, thus activating the body’s own healing process. It works on the principle that there are reflex areas in the hands and feet that correspond to all areas of the body.

 How does it work?

The hands and feet are anatomically mapped and the therapist applies pressure to one or other point on them thus releasing blocked energy in specific areas of the body which benefits the Mind, Body and Spirit, bringing about balance. The therapist usually works on the feet as it is more effective except in the case of the very young, the elderly or in other circumstances whereby the client may feel uncomfortable.

 Benefits of Reflexology

  • Reduces stress/anxiety and induces deep relaxation.
  • Improves circulation
  • Balances the entire system
  • Revitalises energy
  • Nurtures relationships
  • Stimulates creativity and productivity
  • It is a preventative health therapy and much more.

Visualisation

What is Visualisation?

Visualisation or guided imagery focuses the mind on healing images to bring about lifestyle change. Visualisation can be used to alleviate physical and emotional pain. It can bring about behavioural change and attitude change by means of positive imagery and can have great success in eliminating stress and treating many other issues.
